HI-FOG - Water Mist Fire Protection

Type approval certificates awarded by Factory Mutual (FM) and the German VdS for HI-FOG systems have made it easy for the authorities having jurisdiction to accept HI-FOG water mist system for building protection. HI-FOG was chosen to protect the new atrium structure at Credit Valley Hospital as a compliance alternative for the fire protection of combustible wooden structural supports. HI-FOG offers more freedom for architectural design while minimizing smoke damage associated with conventional sprinklers.

In early 2000, the ministry established a new unit - the Long-Term Care Redevelopment Project - to provide a one-window, client-focused organization dedicated to development of long-term care beds. It is working with other ministries, municipalities and stakeholders to facilitate this major undertaking. One of the steps that the ministry has taken to ensure the success of the long-term care bed implementation initiative is providing all interested parties with useful and timely information on various aspects of the development and operation of new and rebuilt long-term care beds.
